Repulse Bay ^0^

Hello everyone!!! Do you like the Sun and Breach in summer? I think that most of them will say “Yes”. Now, I will suggest you go to the “Repulse Bay”. Where is it?? It is located at the southern of Hong Kong, Bolan road of Wan Chai. Why I will introduce this to you? This is because it is the largest and one of the popular breaches in Hong Kong.

Before I start to tell you the attraction of Repulse Bay, do you know why it is calling a “Repulse Bay”? In 1841, the Repulse Bay was used to prevent the pirates and caused serious concern to foreign merchant ships trading with China, because the pirates were subsequently repulsed by the British Fleet, the bay was named 'Repulse'.

 

However, there are not any pirates now, but you can see the wonderful sea view and distinctly resort-like atmosphere in this place. This is because the area is a getaway from the city with its long line of coast and smooth sands. This means that the water quality of the Beach is good. Therefore, it is a good place for the citizens and tourists to “recharge” themselves. Besides, it has features changing facilities, showers, parking, as well as several bars and restaurants.

 

 

Then, the picturesque garden is near the breach which has standing two statues of Kwun Yum and Tin Hau. They are two of the gods in China and the protectors of fishermen. Therefore, there are many people go there to worship them. If you don’t trust that, I think you can see the traditional Chinese architecture. I think it is a good place to take photos before you go to breach.

When you feel hungry, there are many restaurants near or in plaza (影灣園), such as barbecued restaurants, special food restaurant, café and fast food restaurants. I have some tips if you go to barbecued restaurants. Their opening hour is from 3pm to 2am and the price around HKD$40 to $200. And you need to check the restaurant is providing the self-service barbecue or not. After that, you can go to the Plaza to see their decoration. It is very beautiful with European architecture. Please don’t wait!! Let’s go to the “Repulse Bay”

 

The transportation: you can take Bus 6, 6A, 6X, 66 or 260 from Exchange Square Bus Terminus (MTR Hong Kong Station Exit D) or Taxi.

Tung Ping Chau

Tung Ping Chau

Hi everyone! Do you know Hong Kong has about 75% of suburban districts? It’s an amazing ratio compare to other countries!! There are many beautiful places in Hong Kong. Today I would like to introduce Tung Ping Chau, it is also named as Ping Chau. It is an offshore island located in the northeast corner of Hong Kong which is close to mainland than close to Hong Kong. 

The island has an area of 1.16km ² and consists of shale rock. And this island is the most easterly point of Hong Kong. The island's largest village, Sha Tau, is something of a ghost town, with many cottages boarded up. A large part of the island is country parkland, with footpaths overgrown with orchids, wild mint, and morning glories. 

At the island's southeastern end are two huge rocks known as the Drum Rocks, or Watchman's Tower Rocks (Kang Lau Shek). At the north end is a chunk of land that has broken away from the island; it is represents the head of a dragon. The island has the shape of a kidney bean with its concave side facing northeast. Its name "Ping Chau" means "flat island" in Chinese. The opposite western coast of the island is fairly rocky. This is a good place for photography and diving. If you like nature, you must go there and have a look!

Ma Liu Shui Ferry Pier

You can take MTR and take off at University station, and then go to Ma Liu Shui Ferry Pier. Ferry ticket Sailing available on Saturday, Sunday and Public Holidays Only. The departure time from Ma Liu Shui is Saturday – 0900 and 1530, Sunday and Public Holidays – 0900. And the departure time from Tung Ping Chau is 1715 at Saturday, Sunday and Public Holidays. The round trip ticket is about 90 dollars. Hope you will enjoy and have fun =]

Central & Western District Special 4: Western Market

Western Market is one of the oldest structures in Sheung Wan, Hong Kong Island, Hong Kong. The current structure was the North Block of the original Western Market. It is the oldest surviving market building in the city. The former South Block was replaced by the Sheung Wan Complex in 1981.

Western Market, renovated in 1991 and converted into a shopping complex, is an Edwardian-style building featuring shops selling arts and crafts and fabric.

Completed in 1906, the impressive building has a red brick exterior with a handsome granite arch over its entrance. The market now houses shops formerly located in old alleys in the heart of Central, which sold all manner of cloth. The building is also home to traditional handicraft stalls and a number of cafes. The top floor is home to the Grand Stage where dance lovers can rendezvous and enjoy a romantic dinner.

Art Food Cloth Shop

You can buy different products from different level of floors. For example, top floor is selling about art product, second floor is about food, first floor is about cloth and the ground floor is some shops.

Congradulations to Hong Kong 360ﾟ!!!

Today I'd like to suggest a best place for 1-day tour that outside the urban of Hong Kong. It's a good place to enjoy the relaxing environment, that's "Cheung Chau". It takes only 30-55 mins ferry ride to arrive, and it's a common hot spot for local people and foreigners to spend their holidays there.


In fact, it is also famous by some delicious snacks and foods! From my last experience in summer, we ate deep-fry fishballs, shakein soup, ice-pineapple, mango rice dumplings, and etc. All of those are value-to-money and has been strongly recommended by travelers! Besides these, the seafood meals are also popular among visitors. In Cheung Chau, there are series of chinese restuarants with outdoor-seats available. It should be a great time if you sit along the seaside and enjoy your abundant seafood with your friends!

Majority of visitors come and have a one-day-trip in Cheung Chau, which is an island with 3km². With limited time to visit, the Cheung Chau's residents operate some stores to rent out bicycles for tourists to have a bicycle-ride-trip in a day. This saves much time for sight-seeing and chance to experience the relaxing rural atmosphere.

In addition, there is a Cheung Chau Beach where suits for water-activities. It always full of people to enjoy the sunshine bath and have fun especially during summer times. Besides, visitors also shouldn't miss the chance to drop by the Cheung Po Tsai Cave, so-called after the local marauding pirate who hid there from authorities before he turned himself in. It's a great adventure experience to explore "Cheung Chau History" by yourself! But we suggest that you should bring along torch and go with your friends for safety reason.

Moreover, Bun Festival held during the fourth moon in the lunar calendar (April/May). The celebration culminates in a unique and colourful street procession. This is a old culture of Cheung Chau and well-known in the world. So, don't miss the chance to visit the big event of it!

The government house!!!

Do you know that…..

The main building of Government House was constructed in 1855 in neo-classical style, incorporating rich colonial characteristics. Over the years, major renovation and alteration works were carried out by various Governors to suit their personal style and needs.The two biggest changes took place in 1889-1891 and during the Japanese occupation of Hong Kong in 1942-1945. In 1889, during the governorship of Sir William Des Voeux (1887-1891), an annex was built on the eastern side of the House to provide more space for social functions. The annex, almost as large as the House proper and linked by a covered stairway, was composed of a ballroom on the upper floor and a supper room below. The project proceeded quickly and was completed in 1891.

On Sunday, it’s a sunny day!

We enjoy the wonderful day and go to Government House as it’s the house open day today. And there are a lot of flowers in the house. Some flowers that I never seen before. Still many type of flower would always appear in the public. However, I don’t recognize which is luxury or common type. When I take some photos on some flowers, the auntie speak loudly and said the flower always can be saw on the street. It is very common! Then, I stop my action quickly as I was taking the most common type of flower at that time.

Here is government car! As you can see, the car is attached with the Hong Kong medal. I believe you can’t buy in the public market. And the silver car is operated by electric power. When I saw this car at first time, I really want to drive it. Do you want to obtain one?

government house. And I love this plant very much. As it’s very special plant to whole house. And the color I love very much.

Po Toi Island

It is suitable for hiking in autumn. Today, I would like to take all of you to Po Toi Island. It located an hour south of Aberdeen (and just 30 minutes off Stanley), Po Toi manages simultaneously to be close and far away. The island is the perfect week-end getaway - offering a relatively easy but very scenic walk and some brilliant seafood.  

Just three decades ago, Po Toi was home to around a thousand people, most of whom lived around this cove. But, drawn by the booming city and driven out by mainland marauders, all but a handful have since left. There are ruined buildings amongst trees by the pier; others are scattered nearby, and many more must have long since vanished, smothered by shrubs and climbers.

1. Kaido service from Aberdeen on Tues, Thurs, Sat, Sun and Public Holidays.
2. Kaido service from Stanley Blake Pier on Sun and Public Holidays.

It was a sun shine day! Fantastic!

There was a trail near the Tin Hau Temple which has more than 150 years.

It also features hikes over rough hill trails and if you're lucky, thrilling encounters with wildlife such as white-bellied sea eagles and turtles. The island is full of fascinating rocks like Conch Rock that is 10 meters high. Remember to open your heart and let your imagination fly. Otherwise, you will not be able to look at the rocks in another perspective and miss the turtles, the monks, and even the unicorns and castles on the clouds."

It was a really nice place for people who like taking photos and hiking! I saw many special rocks such as the Buddha Hand Rock (佛手巖), the Coffin Rock (棺材石), and the Tortoise Climbing up the Mountain (靈龜上山).

You can see the rock look like a turtle and walking up to the mountain!

The Deserted Mansion of Family Mo, (巫氏廢宅) is a famous "Haunted House" in the Island. It is a popular venue of "adventure" for the young visitors! In the past, Mo, built a house on the island after getting rich. Some thieves planned to kidnap family but the family was luckily away. The family deserted the house and moved away after the incident. Since then, the house was abandoned and deteriorated over time. As there is a Coffin Rock on the hill at the back of the mansion, rumours
 spread and the house became known as the Haunted House.

SPD 3159 - The Experience of HK (Part II)

On 22^nd October, I went to the Peak which is the famous place for the visitors. Also, I told you about my experience of Peak Tram, Peak Tram Historical Gallery, sky terrace and sky gallery. Now, I will talk about the Peak Market, Peak Tower, Peak Galleria, Madame Tussauds Hong Kong and Natural Walk.

Peak Market

In this market, I found that there were many shops to sell Chinese artwork, silk collectibles and curios. It was the perfect place to buy unique things for friends or family.

Peak Tower

When we went inside the Peak Tower, there was a dazzling array of restaurants, shops and entertainment venues with the beautiful backdrop of the city.

For the restaurants, there were many international brand names like crocs and BSX. I think you can enjoy it.

About the restaurant, there were different types of food to attract different visitors from different countries, such as Japanese, American, Hong Kong and etc.

Peak Galleria

Then, we went to the Peak Galleria and passing through the Hong Kong Tourism Board Visitor Centre. It was containing different leaflets to promote Hong Kong attractions. Besides, the staff will stand there to answer the visitor’s questions.

When we went inside, I found that there were many restaurants and shops, such as McDonald’s and boutique.

Madame Tussauds Hong Kong

There were many celebrity wax figures into six themes. It connects guests with famous people, famous events and famous times. It can achieve my dream which was meeting the famous star – Bruce Lee!!!

Natural Walk

According to the official website, you also can visit the Hong Kong’s natural from the Peak Tram Station to Mount Austin Playground around 5 to 10 minutes. (see as map^^)
